Holy cow or holy crap? A $1,111 heart-clogger of a meal.

In this day and age, when heart attacks fell adults while obesity plagues children, do we really need a $1,111 “Beef Eaters Dream Dish”? Benjamin Steak

To honor the restaurant owner’s birthday, this New York restaurant is offering a $1,111 meat platter for five consisting of porterhouse, sirloin, filet mignon, chateaubriand and rib eye steaks.

Yes, folks, that’s 111 oz of pure beef. That’s also more than $200 per person, wine not included. And, assuming it was all broiled sirloin, that is also 6660 calories AND 266 grams of fat. Whoa, don’t pass out, that is only more than 1330 calories per person for this, one, meal. Erm, no, go ahead and pass out.

And there are a host of concerns about red meat. Including:

Red Meat Consumption Associated with Increased Risk for Breast Cancer
According to researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School

One wonders, would Oprah have a cow?

I don’t know whether to cry or throw up! Seriously, I live in my own little safe bubble where people just don’t eat like this anymore. Thank you, by the way, for that old Onion link- always good for a laugh.

Yep, this is a scary amount of beef. I think they would be rather ill after eating all that.
